Payment of Financial Assistance

The steps preceding payment of the financial assistance awarded to you
  1. As a general rule, your educational institution will give you a Guarantee Certificate at the beginning of your studies. This document will enable you to take out a student loan. It is valid for the entire duration of your studies, unless you interrupt your studies for more than six months. If you resume your studies after such an absence, you will be issued a new Guarantee Certificate, provided you are still eligible under the Loans and Bursaries Program.
  2. You remit the Certificate and the loan agreement that accompanies it to the financial institution.
  3. Your financial institution confirms the validity of your Certificate and transmits your banking information to Aide financière aux études.
  4. Aide financière aux études sends your financial institution an initial loan authorization.
Payments

The financial assistance to which you are entitled will be deposited directly into your bank account.

If you qualify for a loan and a bursary

The assistance granted to you is deposited in your account at the beginning of each month.

Over the course of the school year, your financial assistance will be paid to you in the form of a loan. At the end of that year, following payment of your final instalment and verification of your income by Revenu Québec, the government will repay the bursary portion of your financial assistance to your financial institution. That process is called the loan-to-bursary conversion.

If you qualify for a loan only

Your financial assistance is paid in equal instalments, which are deposited directly in your bank account at the beginning of each study period consisting of at least three months. This procedure is intended to facilitate the resumption of your studies.

If you have a major functional disability

The only payment method available to you is direct deposit. You must therefore apply for the direct deposit payment method by filling out the Direct Deposit (PDF 28 ko) form, which you can obtain by clicking Print forms under the Items of Interest section of our Web site. Send the form, duly completed to:

Aide financière aux études
1035, rue De La Chevrotière
Québec (Québec) G1R 5A5

Attention! No instalment will be issued for any month in which the amount of assistance is under $25. Instead, that amount is added to the instalment for the previous month or the following month, as the case may be.
