Personal information

The Explore Program is run under the aegis of the provincial and territorial ministries of education and the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC). In Québec, the Ministère de l'Éducation et de l'Enseignement supérieur (MEES) administers the Explore Program. Any information you provide is collected and analyzed by Aide financière aux études (AFE), and is mandatory for participation in this program. The provincial program coordinator and her staff have access to your information.

The following information collected during the online application process (except for your Permanent Code) is shared with the CMEC and included in the pan-Canadian database:

  • identification information such as date of birth, address and telephone number
  • academic information such as level of education and name of educational institution attended
  • personal information related to the Explore Program such as answers to form questions and application status

This information is used for:

  • conducting the random draw for Explore bursaries
  • transmitting correspondence about applicant status

Your personal information is also used for reporting purposes as required by the Department of Canadian Heritage.

You are required to provide all requested information, including a valid email address, so that staff analyzing your file can perform the necessary checks in the Ministère’s computer systems. Information you provide in the Identity and address and Academic information sections may be cross-checked to AFE data, based on your Permanent Code, first and last names and date of birth.

Accessing and Correcting Information

In compliance with the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information, you can contact AFE to exercise your right to access and correct personal information about yourself at any time.
