2016-2017 Monthly Expenses

Your monthly expenses are the total costs deemed necessary for the pursuit of your studies from September 1, 2016 to August 31, 2017.

Living expenses

Individual pursuing full-time studies or doing a full-time practicum (excluding co-operative practicums/internships) and not living with his or her parents $837 per month
Student deemed enrolled and living with his or her parents Per month: $175 + 10 % of employment income
Maximum: $392 per month
Student deemed enrolled and not living with his or her parents Per month : $620 + 10 % of employment income
Maximum : $837 per month

Deemed living with parents: A student with a parental contribution who attends an educational institution in the municipality where the parents reside or there is public transit available to travel between the parental residence and the educational institution.

Living expenses for children

Additional living expenses for single parents

You are deemed the head of a single parent family if you have at least one dependent child or if you are at least 20 weeks pregnant and one of the following applies to you:

  • You are single.
  • You are legally or de facto separated.
  • You are divorced or widowed.
  • Your spouse cannot be located.

You could receive living expenses for your children if you have custody at least 25% of the time.

Other expenses
