Request for the correction of child assistance and Canada Child Tax Benefit amounts
When a student’s parent has a dependent child under age 18, child assistance and Canada Child Tax Benefit amounts are automatically added to the parent’s income in his or her contribution assessment. Sometimes, the amount attributed by the system is not the amount actually received by the parent.
In such situations, you must send an income correction request. To do so, simply send your request in a letter bearing your social insurance number. You must include the following four supporting documents:
Child assistance
- Annual notice of the refundable child assistance tax credit for January to June of the previous calendar year
- Annual notice of the refundable child assistance tax credit for July to December of the previous calendar year
Canada Child Tax Benefit
- Annual notice of the Canada Child Tax Benefit for January to June of the previous calendar year
- Annual notice of the Canada Child Tax Benefit for July to December of the previous calendar year
