If you wish to receive financial assistance under the Loans and Bursaries Program during your studies, you must submit an application. But that is not all! Once your application for financial assistance has been approved by Aide financière aux études, and over the course of your studies, you must follow a few procedures to ensure that you receive the financial assistance to which you are entitled.

Studies in Québec

If you are studying in Québec and you wish to receive financial assistance, click here to find out the procedures to follow.

Studies outside Québec

If you are studying outside Québec, you may be eligible for financial assistance under the Loans and Bursaries Program. Click here to find out the procedures to follow.

Appeals

If you would like to appeal a decision, if you are in a situation that is not covered under the rules of one of our programs, if you have attained the maximum number of study periods or the debt limit for your program or level of education, or if you are unhappy with some aspects of the service you have received, contact the Unité des droits de recours (appeals unit).

Temporary interruption of studies

If you previously received financial assistance under the Loans and Bursaries Program or the Loans Program for Part-Time Studies and you plan to temporarily interrupt your studies, you must begin to repay your student loan as of the date you interrupt your studies.

However, under certain circumstances, students can postpone repayment.

If you previously received a student loan and you are currently pursuing your studies, but you are not reapplying for financial assistance, please note the following:
