To receive the assistance awarded to you, you must have your Guarantee Certificate, which is given to you at the beginning of your studies. This document is valid as long as you are a student. However, if you interrupt your studies for more than six months, a new certificate will be issued when you begin studying again, provided you are eligible for financial assistance.

First application for financial assistance

If you are submitting an application for financial assistance under the Loans Program for Part-Time Studies for the first time since the 2005 winter study period, you will have to pick up your Guarantee Certificate at the financial assistance office of your educational institution at the beginning of your first study period.

The Guarantee Certificate is required to launch the cycle of financial assistance payments by one of the participating financial institutions. To obtain the assistance to which you are entitled, you must submit your certificate before the specified expiry date to a branch of one of the following financial institutions located in Québec:

• Desjardins caisse
• Bank of Montreal
• Laurentian Bank
• National Bank of Canada
• Royal Bank of Canada

The financial assistance to which you are entitled will then be deposited directly into your bank account.

Subsequent applications

If you submit a new application and you have not interrupted your studies for more than six months, the guarantee certificate that you submitted to your financial institution is still valid. You are therefore not required to obtain another. Your financial institution and Aide financière aux études already have your banking information. The amounts to which you are entitled will be deposited directly into your account, once the financial assistance office of your educational institution has confirmed your student status with Aide financière aux études.
