The improved Deferred Payment Plan
Please note that major changes to the Deferred Payment Plan will be implemented in September, 2013 to provide better support to those who are paying back their student loan while in precarious financial circumstances. Full details about the program enhancement will be available on our Web site. In particular, if you qualify for the Plan’s new terms, you could take advantage of a relief measure and begin to repay your student loan in accordance with your means in spite of your financial difficulties.
When you choose the Deferred Payment Plan in the Repayment section of our Web site, you will be invited to use the monthly payment simulator. If you believe that you qualify for the Plan after going through the simulation process, you will be able to immediately fill out an application in the On-Line Access to Your File! tab.

The eligibility threshold for some programs and measures administered by Aide financière aux études has been increased to take into account the recent increase in the minimum wage, which rose from $9.65 to $9.90 an hour in Québec.

2013-2014 Application for financial assistance
Will you be studying during the award year beginning September 1, 2013, and ending August 31, 2014?
You can fill out the on-line application for financial assistance as the end of May 2013. Until then, you can use the assessment simulator for an estimate of the financial assistance that could be awarded to you in the 2013-2014 award year. Note, however, that the results obtained using the assessment simulator are not official and should not be interpreted under any circumstances as a commitment on the part of Aide financière aux études.

It is not too late to file your confirmation of financial resources for 2012
If you have not filed your confirmation of financial resources for 2012 as of February 20, 2013, you must do so even if your income has not changed. Otherwise, your financial assistance instalments will be suspended as of March 2013. Please note that you must fill out the form again, even if you filled it out in the fall. Once you have filed your confirmation, your instalments should be reinstated within a few days.

Have you received the documents you require to file your 2012 income tax return?
Aide financière aux études recently sent out documents to students required to file a 2012 income tax return (e.g. Relevé 1 or T4A tax slip, letter certifying a payment to Aide financière aux études). If you have not received any documents it means your file did not contain a loan to bursary conversion, loan remission, repayment of bursary overpayment or interest paid on your student loan during 2012.
It is always possible however that a document required for your 2012 income tax return was in fact produced but not received by you. If this is the case, you can see whether a duplicate exists in the On-Line Access to Your File! Tax duplicates tab. You can print a copy of the duplicate and include it in your income tax return instead of the original.
