Student Financial Resources

Employment and related income
  • Gross income earned as an employee
  • Net business or self-employment income within the meaning of the Taxation Act
  • Employment insurance benefits within the meaning of the Employment Insurance Act (including maternity benefits, sickness benefits, etc.) from Human Resources and Skills Development Canada
  • Benefits received under the Québec Parental Insurance Plan
  • Amounts received from Emploi-Québec for your participation in a manpower training measure or from the Ministère de l’Immigration et des Communautés culturelles under the Programme d’aide financière pour l’intégration linguistique des immigrants (PAFILI)
  • Income replacement benefits from the Commission de la santé et de la sécurité au travail (CSST)
  • Income replacement benefits from the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ)
  • Income replacement benefits received for crime victims or persons who have performed an act of good citizenship (IVAC)
  • Retirement or disability pension benefits received under the Québec Pension Plan (QPP) or the Canada Pension Plan (CPP)
  • Benefits received under a private or public retirement plan
Other income
  • Amounts you have received or will receive as an orphan’s pension (QPP/CPP), a pension for a disabled person’s child (QPP/CPP), a surviving spouse’s pension (QPP/CPP), death benefits in the form of pensions (SAAQ) and pensions paid to the child of a crime victim (CSST)
  • Alimony and child support (total amount you have received or will receive in 2011 for yourself and, if applicable, your children)
  • Investment income (interest, dividends, capital gains) and income from a succession, trust or gift
  • Allowances from the Solicitor General of Canada or the Minister of Public Security and allowances from Indian and Northern Affairs Canada or a band council
  • Bursaries paid by:
    • an association
    • a foundation
    • a company
    • a government organization
    • Aide financière aux études to elected executive officers of provincial student associations

    Only the amount exceeding $5 000 of all bursaries combined received in the calendar year ending during the award year concerned is taken into account in your other income.
