Are you married or in a civil union?
Are you unmarried, but living in a de facto union with a person of the opposite or same sex, and living with a dependent child (yours or this person’s)?
In both cases, according to Aide financière aux études, you have a spouse who must contribute financially to your studies. Please note that the spouse does not have to contribute if he or she is currently benefiting from the loans and bursaries program or benefited from it during the previous award year.
The spousal contribution is determined on the basis of the spouse’s financial resources, including total gross income for the calendar year preceding the current award year.
The spousal contribution is equal to the spouse’s financial resources minus a basic exemption, and, if you have a major functional disability, an additional exemption.
