Exceptional Cases of Eligibility Under the Loans and Bursaries Program

  • are the head of a single-parent family and you live with your child under age 12
  • are the head of a single-parent family and you live with your child under age 21, who is a student with a major functional disability
  • have a spouse and you live with your child under age 6
  • have a spouse and you live with your child under age 21, who is a student with a major functional disability
  • are at least 20 weeks pregnant
  • have a major functional disability

You must also meet the eligibility requirements for that program.

If you are eligible under the Loans and Bursaries Program, it may be to your advantage to apply for the following reasons:

  • Educational, living, childcare and transportation expenses are taken into account in the assessment of the amount of assistance to be awarded.
  • You could be entitled to a bursary.

Do you wish to compare the amounts that could be awarded to you under the Loans and Bursaries Program with those that could be awarded under the Loans Program for Part-Time Studies? For the Loans and Bursaries Program, use our Assessment simulator, then consult the section Assessment – Loans Program for Part-Time Studies.

You can apply on-line.

To do so, fill out an Application for Financial Assistance form and, if applicable, a Schedule A – Student’s Dependent Children form on our Web site under On-Line Access to Your File!.

Please note: Students cannot receive financial assistance under more than one program for any given term.
